My name is Mobola Ade-Adefemi Fondly called Mrs 'Mo. I wear many hats... I am a Media Strategist by Profession i run a Media outfit called Mo’Social Online that creates and maintains Visibility and Awareness for our client Online and Offline through Digital Media and Traditional Media.
I have a provision store called P.O.D. Stores - Provisions on Demand. We sell provisions and food stuffs Online and Offline and we also Export this Foodstuff to clients in the UK, USA, FRANCE and CANADA looking to expand to other countries.

In 2013, I went on a journey with the purpose of finding a Food Bank or Soup Kitchen to learn the ropes in this field and get hands on experience. I Found the Knights Table in Brampton Ontario Canada where I served to learn the trade of this business.

This inspired me to start Black Switch International an organization, where we collect food and funding all year round so that food programs begin to benefit & function properly in eradicating poverty and improving health and nutrition in the communities.

As we gather these food and resources on a large scale, food programs pay for “Logistics and handling fees” for continuous existence of our daily activities

From the beginning

In 2008, through research conducted by our founder, It became evident that there was an impending challenge of insufficient food and funds to run the activities of groups that feed the poor around the country. These challenges lingered on; it became even more obvious that a lot of food programs had similar challenges. This was really tough and heart breaking especially seeing hungry women and children being turned back for insufficient food to cater to them.

At the same time, it was observed when further research was conducted, that the there was a Food waste problem in Nigeria, with a case study of case study Lagos. Every single Lagosian is a contributor to the food waste problem in Nigeria. A vivid scenario: you attend a birthday party and you are served a plate of Rice with Moi-Moi (beans cake), 1 piece of meat, 1 piece of Chicken and Dodo (fried Plantain). You know you don’t like Moi-Moi and just a piece of meat would be fine for you. Instead of letting the server know you don't want the Moi-Moi and the other extras, You collect the food. Along the way, you also realize the rice has no taste. You eat what you can and leave the rest. For who If, I may ask? At the end of the day those leftover foods are gathered together in bags and giving to dogs or are trashed.

Meanwhile, there are Families all over who haven't had a good meal in days; even Garri is a luxury item for them right now. This is just one example on how we waste food. Lets not talk about how we waste food in our kitchens; talking about you dont like Leftovers or our stores/pantries, products we let expire because we cant consume all of it....So you see we are all GUILITY as Charged!!!

This inspired the birth of Black Switch International an organization aimed at merging the gap between Food Waste and poverty in Nigeria. We have identified different Channels in which Food waste occurs and whole idea is to assume the position of the middleman between these two groups those who have excess and those who don’t have at all. We have created products to cater to each aspect;

We have Identified different Channels in which Food waste occur and whole idea is to assume the position of the middle man between this two groups those who have excess and those who dont have at all. We have created products to cater to each aspect;

  • FOOD BANK MARKET: where we collect food and funding all year round so that food programs begin to benefit & function properly in reducing poverty and improving health and nutrition in the communities.
  • PROJECT SWITCH: We focus on developing self-sufficiency by collaborating with these families towards running a sustainable business that helps them alleviate poverty. We support them with business support and a bit of food for few months to help them plough back their profit and stabilize and not eat their capital .
  • FOOD DRIVES: We occasionally do Food Drives, Clothes Drives and Shoe Drives. We identify Charities, NGO's, communities where various items are needed and we ccollect on their behalf from donors and give to the Charities that need them.
